Operations Recommence at Edinburgh Airport In the Wake of Major Control Tower IT Issue
Air travel have restarted at Edinburgh Airport after a major air traffic control outage halted all operations.
Every arrival and departure were suspended after an technical fault that arose around 08:30.
Several flyers reported being stuck in jets at the stand during the disruption.
Flights Resume with Continued Disruption
Officials announced at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and thanked passengers for their "cooperation and patience".
That said, ongoing issues are likely to persist for some time. Services bound for London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been cancelled, with many others experiencing delays.
Officials had earlier anticipated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be affected.
"Travelers are urged to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their booked journeys," the statement added.
Root of the Disruption
The airport attributed the full ground stop to an IT issue with its air traffic control provider.
Flyers should still plan to confirm the details of their flight before heading to the hub as residual delays are worked through.
